Dr. Ricardo Cubedo

Medical oncologist, author, and well-known science communicator with a broad background in oncology and biomedical research.

He graduated from the University of Valencia and specialized in medical oncology at the Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid, furthering his training at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. His focus has been on breast cancer, sarcomas, and hereditary cancer, notably establishing the Genetic Diagnosis and Family Cancer Program at MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid in 2019, where he serves as director. Dr. Cubedo has been actively involved in numerous conferences, clinical trials, and the development and approval of new oncology drugs, holding the position of Designated Expert at the European Medicines Agency since 2004 and a member of its Scientific Advisory Committee on Oncology since 2022.

As a science communicator, Dr. Cubedo has played key roles, overseeing cancer-related matters on the health website of El Mundo and El Mundo Salud from 2000 to 2011. He is the editor of the sarcoma sections of Cancer.Net for the American Society of Oncology since 2018 and a regular contributor to various print, digital, and audiovisual media outlets. Notably, he is a permanent collaborator on Saber Vivir (La 1, TVE) since 2024 and has produced podcasts like «Vacunas [Vaccines]» (2002) and «Tu SúperCuerpo [Your SuperBody]» (2024) with El Extraordinario. He frequently delivers engaging talks on cancer, immunity, and genetics for companies such as BBVA, Telefónica, Ericsson, Iberia, Repsol, and Banco de España. Dr. Cubedo is the author of » Cáncer. 101 Preguntas Esenciales[Cancer: 101 Essential Questions]» (La Esfera de los Libros, 2007) and «El Órgano Transparente. He has led the SOLOMED Foundation since 2024.
