Dr. Jorge Solís
Prominent cardiologist, is a founding partner and CEO of ATRIA Clinic, as well as the director of Non-Invasive Cardiology and the Valvular Disease Unit at the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre in Madrid.
A graduate and PhD of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, he expanded his professional experience in the United States, first at the experimental surgery laboratory of the University of Montana and later at the echocardiography laboratory of the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston. During this time, he led advancements in 3D echocardiography and novel approaches to cardiac valve diseases.
As the lead of the PROMESA study, his discoveries on the genetic foundations of mitral valve prolapse were internationally recognized and published in high-impact scientific journals such as Nature, Nature Genetics, and Nature Cardiovascular Review. He is also known for his research on preeclampsia as an indicator of cardiovascular damage in heart disease prevention.
In addition to his research work, Dr. Solís is a frequent contributor to the media and co-author of the book «La salud de tu Corazón» (La Esfera de los Libros, 2017).
Upon his return to Madrid, he co-founded Atria Clinic along with Dr. Leticia Fernández-Friera, with the aim of providing top-notch cardiac care and introducing 3D vascular ultrasound technology to Spain for the early diagnosis of common yet serious conditions like stroke, thromboembolic disease, and acute myocardial infarction.
